My baby has a cluster of blood vessels on the top of her head, will it go away?

she is 9 weeks old and has a thumb size bump on her head and the dr said it would go away at about 6 months old...has any one experienced this and does it the bump go away? the strawberry mark can stay but the purplish bump under the mark looks painful and terrible.
